BlueProximity - Really Cool Freeware

I was googling to search some cool softwares that integrate PC and mobile through Bluetooth. This software made me to give a look at it.

"BlueProximity"

This software automatically locks your PC when you just move away from it along with your phone.

How ?

1. You need to pair your mobile with your PC via Bluetooth.
2. Install BlueProximity.
3. Start BlueProximity
4. It appears on the System Tray as shown in the image below

5. Right Click on it and select Preferences.

6. Scan for Bluetooth devices and click "Use Selected Device". The Default RFCOMM Channel 7 worked for me. If you had problems, you can click "Scan Channels on device".

7. Goto Proximity Details Tab, here you set the distance and times to lock and unlock your computer.

  • The distance is a numeric value between 0-255 which is a rough range of how far your cellphone is from your computer. It doesn’t correspond to any specific unit of measure, so you’ll need to test it out to get a feeling for it.
  • At the bottom of the tab, “Measured atm” displays the current distance, as well as the minimum and maximum distances that have been detected. You can use this as a guide.
  • The duration corresponds to the number of seconds your cellphone needs to be outside of the distance before your computer will lock. You may need to use some trial and error to find the right value.
  • The “Unlocking” options operate just like the “Locking” options, but opposite. When your phone is detected within the specified distance for the complete duration, your computer will unlock.
8. The "Locking" tab provides options for locking, unlocking and logging the commands run when you move out of specified proximity from your PC. The default provided by BlueProximity is to lock and unlock the screensavers. You can run any command.

Once you are done with all these settings, you are done. Just enable bluetooth on your mobile and walk away from your PC, it will lock your PC.

Cooool.....
